Scared of Cockroaches

My husband and I bought a condo and moved this new place about a week back. Very beautiful place! But we saw a big cockroach crawling around about 3 days later and it freaked the hell out of me. I screamed and jumped because my brother-in-law told me once that cockroaches can fly. It was one hell of a night. My husband never saw me screaming and jumping before this day. He asked me what if I was alone in the house with baby? I said, I would take the baby and get out of the house and wait for you to come home. Now he thinks that I should get over this cockroach fear before I conceive because this is not normal. Is it that serious?? Cockroaches are gross and I'm not able to get over it. Help me get over this please! Thanks in advance!
