are childbirth classes necessary?

I am not really wanting to take them because my hubby can't get the time off work to go with me :( but being a ftm idk if it's necessary ?

I can't answer that but I will say YouTube has a ton of information!  I've watched everything from actual births to breastfeeding and tips and tricks to having a successful natural birth,  coping techniques etc etc. Plus as a bonus when I watch them my man is kinda forced to hear them too so I know he's at least picking up on some of it. I feel 1000000x more confident than I did in the beginning and I owe Alot of that to YouTube as crazy as it sounds.

My hospital offers one online so that's the route we opted to take as my husband's schedule makes it hard to go to an actual class. So far I feel like the information I've been provided is basic knowledge and could easily be found on websites dedicated to giving birth. I wouldn't say taking a class is necessary.

I think it should be seriously considered if you can afford it. (Some classes are expensive- hubby and I took an 8 week long, 24 hour total class and it cost 250$ and then a 3 hour long baby basics class that was 40$) but it is REALLY important to educate yourself in all areas of labor, birth, after birth, post partum, baby care etc so that you are setting yourself up for success. 
I wouldn't trust just anything I read on the internet-- I would want to hear it from a certified professional who is currently working in that industry (whether it be Birth and labor or child care)

For example the woman who taught our birthing class is a midwife, doula, mother of 3 and owner of the birthing center and the woman who taught our baby basics class is a preschool teacher, mother of 3, baby cpr certified trainer, car seat installation certified, and like a dozen other things.

Anybody on the internet can say whatever they want and be totally biased and you would never know🤷🏻‍♀️ why take the chance? Also getting information from your mother or mother in law (though they mean well) unless they work in that field their information is OUTDATED (sorry it is🤷🏻‍♀️) new studies and new information are found CONSTANTLY and you want information that is up to date- not old wives tales and what worked in the 70s, 80s or 90s

No. Helpful but not necessary. The nurses will walk you through every step of labor. I was totally prepared. Read books, took classes but when labor it all went out the window and I could only focus on one thought at a time. I did exactly what the nirses and my sister told me.

Brother just had his 1st baby in Jan and pretty much gave me unasked advice (which I adored) he said youtube got him through it 😂 but I don't need youtube after he was done with his pointers! Bless his heart!♡

I enjoyed mine, they explained labor, complications, c sections, epidurals and different ways to feed your baby. It was really nice to know it all before I gave birth

My fiancé and I went on Saturday. Biggest waste of time. Everything they tell you you have probably already learnt from your own research and this app with everyone sharing their experience and answering questions. We laughed a lot at the videos etc. I'm also a first time mum but really didn't find it to useful at all but I guess each to there own.
