Gerber flats for inserts?

I bought a 10 pack of Gerber Flats thinking I could try them as a cotton insert for the pocket diapers but after opening them and seeing how thin they were I'm kind of scared to use them. Anyone have any luck with the Gerber flats as inserts...should I just use them as doublers or just save the hassle and use them as burp cloths? Are the Gerber prefolds any better?

I use the regular Gerber flats as burp rags. They're my FAVORITE. I use the "heavy duty" Gerber prefolds (I think they're 5 layers, they come in a 5 pack) for overnight diapers though. I have an insert in the pocket, and an extra insert in the diaper wrapped in a prefold, with the diaper/insert over it... if that makes sense. I would think the prefolds would work well as inserts.

I use them doubled or over a thirties hemp insert and they do fine. If using them in single, I have to change her diaper at about the 2 hour mark or she'll wet through.
