my long birth story 🌷
My birth story-
I was diagnosed with pre clampsia at around week 32 due to having high blood pressure ( 173 over 116) and high protein in urine and was getting checked on alot at the hospital every week. getting an ultrasound once a week, fetal movment assessments 1-2 times a week, midwife and doctor visits 1x a week and a blood pressure profile 1-2 times a week. So i was really getting watched well. I was told any slight symptoms of preclampsia please make sure i go straight to the hospital, and to not do any heavy lifting or really do much at all. And i was placed on high blood pressure pills which made my blood pressure stable and made my urine only have a trace or protein which was good. At 37 weeks and 5 days I was at home and it hit around 530 pm. I started to realise i had only felt my baby caliesha kick once the whole day. I questioned it being a growth spurt and then started to try make her move and i got nothing. I rang the hospital and they told me to come in for a check up so we did. ( i told my bf we need the hospital bag incase and towels in his car, and he was like nah no way) We arrived and they hooked me up to a fetal movement assessment machine and kept testing my blood pressure . They realised my blood pressure was up again and told me the pills arnt working anymore and mentioned they wernt happy with the babys movments and kept trying to make her move. Then they sent off a
Blood test and the blood test came back very high protein. So the midwife then mentioned that the pills i was on for high blood
Pressure had stopped working (which can happen). And they will have to discuss me getting induced. I was nervous but still thinking if wouldent happen. The midwife came back in to the room and asked if she could check to see if i was dialated. I was 1cm dialated already. We then waited for further instructions and were told i will be induced that night due to
Reduced movements , protein and high blood pressure. I started to get nervous but i stayed calm. I mentioned we had no bags (thanks bf) and she said i could go with him to get the bags. I then got off the bed to leave and i was all wet. And then i turned and the bed had a massive wet patch and my pants were soaked. (Guessed my water broke?)I couldnt find any midwives so we went home We got all the bits i got changed and got maccas haha and then went back to the hospital. I mentioned it to a midwife and she mentioned she saw it and it sounds like my water
Broke. I was then sent to labour ward with my bf. We then had an ultrasound and was told they were gonna make sure the whole water broke( which it hadn't yet) they popped the water with a large needle looking thing and then put a drip in and started the induction process. After about 20 mins i was in the longest worst pain which didnt seem to stop. I overheard the lady inducing me saying to my midwife that i was contracting 8 mins each time with hardly any break. They checked me and i had dialated to 4cms. I layed there for 2 hours in pain then i asked how long this will last as i needed a break they said a long time. They then realised and said i was sensitive to the inducing hormone and told me it was going to last a long time. I gathered strength and asked for the epidural. Some guy came in and gave me it. It was awful i felt it clicking through my spine cartleridge. I then layed back down and they told me to press a button which gave me a boost of the epidural into my back every hour. They put in a catheter. I was numb i couldent even move my legs. I keep slipping down the bed and couldent get comfortable. About 2 hours after that I started getting a really bad pain in my back and thought it was due to slipping and my back bending inwards constantly it started to get so annoying and uncomfortable i kept complaining about it and they kept trying to reposition me as i could not move properly and not knowing why it wouldent stop. I then had another lady come in and she said the epidural was to the right slightly and it was my left that was hurting she said its contractions in my back and gave me a higher dose if epidural. The pain was returning every 20 mins so they kept boosting the epidural stuff while i kept doing my once an hour shots of it too. They then checked me (with a training nurse also) and i was 10cm dialated and was ready to start pushing. I was so numb i couldent tell if i was pushing or not but I defiantly tried! She said it was working and i was pushing. I kept trying for about 10 mins. About 6 long hard pushes with a 30 sec break between each push. I then remember my partner turning towards me with a massive smile saying i think shes got brown hair. I melted and was like whatt?? U can see her?? He said i think so and we confirmed with the nurse that it was her he could see. I then kept pushing thinking it was almost over and she would be in my arms any minute. The nurse then said ok stop urv been pushing too long i need to get somone else. I stopped and another lady came and checked it out down there and said shes reAly close but somthings wrong. She got an ultrasound machine aNd said her leg is wrapped in your ambilical cord and shes stuck. We need you to sign concent forms for an emergency c section. I started panicking as my nightmare was to have a c section and not be able to hold my baby straight away. I begged not to have a c section she said she would attempt forceps but it may not work and the only thing left is a c section and said but i bet you it wil, and she will try her hardest. I signed the papers they then rushed me to a small room outside the theatre room. They sent my bf away to get dressed in the right clothes /scrubs and i felt lost without him. I started crying and freaking out as about 20 people surrounded my bed and were all rushing around me doing things. They kept asking me questions and all i wanted was my partner and he still wasnt there and everything was going so fast like everyone was rushing they then transferred me to the main surgical sight/ theatre room and moved me into another bed. Some lady at the end of the bed pressed a button and the end of the bed folded and i started sliding down onto the floor. They all caught me pulled me back up and put the bed back together. I then turned to see my parter was standing behind me and he blew me a kiss and I continued to cry. They then put up a blue tarp on my stomach so i couldn't see what was happening. They then told me to start pushing. I was more numb then before due to the boosts and i was so scared i couldn't push and was going to have a c section so i tried my hardest to push. the lady delivering my baby then said shes coming and it was working and to keep pushing so i did she then told me to stop pushing and ripped down the tarp and handed me my baby into my arms. She wasn't moving and was very blue but then she started to cry so loud like she was scared so i held her closer and just cryed in amazement of her. I then turned to my bf and he was staring at her with tears in his eyes just smiling. That was the best moment in my life seeing him. They then stitched me up from an episiotomy and my partner cut the umbilical cord they told him its like cutting callimari haha. They then cleaned her up more. My partner took photos and then they took her off me and wrapped her up in a blanket and wheeled me and her into another room. To check over me and her for about half an hour and to keep an eye on us. I just laid there staring at her she was moving like a turtle on her back lol. She had a big cut on her head from the forceps and had the biggest cone head shape haha. The birth went from 11pm to 1.41pm the next day. After all that i remember sitting in my hospital room and i kept sneezing and felt sooo much pressure i thought i had broken the stitches but the nurse said its not possible from sneezing and to not worry about it and sneeze if i need too. I still tried not to sneeze then a bout 1 week after the hospital and returning home i looked down there... it was an open biig wound and there was not one stitch. I couldent sit down or stand for long due to the pain down therefor 3 weeks. I went to the doctors after seeing down there and she confirmed they had all ruptured. It ended up healing fine with a lot of paranoia that it wouldent. :) i then had my dream .. caliesha Dorothy-anne sleath ❤️
