I'm Scared Of Asking My Mom To Put Me On Birth Control

I want to go on birth control just in case something ever happens. I've had sex in the past and decided not to anymore till I'm married but you never know what could happen and I want to be safe. I don't want her to think I'm having sex again. How should I go about asking? I want to be safe about things.
