Only wants one boob?

Hello!!
FTM here. My babies pediatrician recommended that I let my little boy nurse at one breast as long as he likes, burp him and then offer the other breast.
Since yesterday he hasn't been wanting the second breast. He falls asleep after the burp and there's nothing that encourages him to wake-up and feed on the other.
He's 9 days old, is that pretty normal?

My daughter is almost 5 months and eats like your baby one boob per feeding and we rotate boobs each feeding. She has always been in the 80 percentile weight gain and I've never had an issue with producing milk. Some babies get full off the one side 🙂

My son did this. He only nursed from one side. So I would pump while he nursed. Worked well for me.

My 2 week old eats the same way! She is gaining weight and making plenty of diapers so I'm not worried about it. When it gets closer to me having to go back to work I plan on pumping from the other side while she nurses.

If he's gaining weight and having enough diapers it just means he's getting enough from that side no worries

I didnt switch and ended ip engorged in my left breast. Unforunately it led me to have to stop breastfeeding. You have to empty both and keep switching.

Always offer the one he doesnt prefer first. Eventually he'll take from both!

Try to feed from one then the other next session. Or pump one side while u nurse. Build a supply for when you need adult time lol
