Shield vs no shield

So we've been using a nipple shield to breast feed because baby has a tongue tie. We've finally gotten to where he will latch to me. He seems like he fills up a lot quicker this way. We use to nurse about 30 minutes with the shield, but now we can be done in 15 minutes. Tried waking him, stimulating his mind to where he will eat. But nope. He's done. Is there a reason why?

The milk flow is slower through the shield. My son is the same. He used to take 40 minutes and is now around 20 without the shield.

Ditch the shield. Baby is getting that milk faster without it. Once I got rid of mine her feeds got way shorter and my supply increased because of the nipple stimulation I wasn't getting with the shield. As long as your baby is having plenty of wet diapers and gaining wait then they are fine!

Normal. Also as baby gets older they get better/quicker at bfing

My son also got the same amount of milk in about half the time without the shield when he was finally big enough to overcome his tongue tie. I regret not getting it revised back then though! Now he might have to get it revised to prevent speech problems and he has to get nitrous oxide since he's a toddler now (just so he doesn't wiggle while they are using the laser) and we wouldn't have had to do that when he was a baby.

Did you get the tongue tie fixed? Mine ate from the breast so much better after we had his fixed, but before he would fall asleep before actually being full because he had to work so hard to get milk out

I'm sure it hurt… But he was done crying so fast! It bled a little but I fed him and it stopped and he didn't cry from pain after that

We got our daughters cut and it made a world of a difference! Do it now before baby is old enough to remember. I didn't even have time to get upset it was over so fast.

You should think about what's benefiting her more. Which one is easier for her to suckle?
