Should a surrogate have the right to keep the child after birth?
The idea of whether a surrogate has the rights to keep the child seems like a very intetesting topic of debate. It can be a controversial topic for those that are looking for alternative methods to conceive. I have heard of this before TTC myself, but now that the situation feels a bit more personal, I'm more curious about it than ever!
I was reading a very interesting article this evening on couples that hired a surrogate in order to have a child. Then after carrying, some surrogates would decide to keep the child. It most states/countries it is legal for a surrogate to decide to keep the child, even if a contract was signed and compensation 2as recieved. The cases certainly varied where some were a surrogate only and others were egg donors, as well. In a few cases, the surrogate was awarded child support from the couples that hired her. What made the article most interesting to me was it shared the perspectives of those on either side of the debate.
I would love to hear honest thoughts, opinions and even experiences on the subject. I won't say whether or not I agree with current surrogate's rights, as I don't want it to affect anyone else's comments.
