Would you send your child to daycare for the social interaction? Even if you or your spouse is capable of watching them from home?

A friend of my husband (who has no kids) told us we need to put our son in daycare even though I work from home and will be capable of watching him (he's not born yet) to make sure he has social skills.

I said no, that's stupid, it's a waste of money! But she insists since he will be an only child for a while and it's better. What do you think??
