What chores did you have as a kid?

I saw a post similar to this -pertaining to laundry- on twitter and i'm just curious? what was expected of you when you lived at home? daily chores, responsibilities, etc...

I would vacuum whenever I felt like it... I was quite a rebellious independent child. Kept my space clean and parents never asked me to do chores, but I would help if they needed it.

My mother hated cleaning, so pretty much everything was my chore minus cooking, so we ended up eating junk or fast food a lot. She made my sister do a lot of it, but when she moved out when I was 8 it all became my responsibility. I remember being about 10 and sleeping over at my friend's house and her giving me a pair of underwear out of a new pack because mine were so dirty they were hurting me. I was so embarrassed. Her mother called my mother and I got yelled at for not doing laundry (mind you we lived in an apartment and the laundromat was on the other side of the complex. If we didn't have quarters, we couldn't do laundry. It was a long ways to walk with a heavy basket and I was always expected to do both hers and mine.) She's in her 60's now and broke and still pays someone to come to her house and do all the chores because she doesn't want to do them.

Everything. Dishes from the time I was little, laundry from about age 13, sweep, mop, feed pets, water plants. We all sort of cleaned up after ourselves and whoever did the cooking didn't have to clean up after dinner.

My parents never worried about my room, they figured it was my space to do what I wanted with. But I did have to bring any laundry down and dishes. We cleaned up after ourselves constantly so it never got bad around the house. Saturday morning the whole family woke up early and we deep cleaned each room together.

I was basically the live in maid. I was adopted at age 11 and did everything household, yard and pet related until i left at age 17.

When I was little it was laundry and dishes. When I grew up it was the kitchen and laundry and picking up the living room and stuff. Basically everything I do now as a mom lol

I was the oldest so I guess I felt like I had to pick up after my little sister. But when we all got older we did our laundry, dishes, and even cooked sometimes, along with reg house hold chores. My boys are 15, 13, and 11 and they do the dishes, sweep and mop kitchen and dining room, clean their bathroom, and do their laundry. They only have to clean the living room if their stuff us in there. I do my husband's and my laundry, clean our bathroom and towels. I cook and dust. If I don't cook or my boys help cook then I do the dishes or we do them together.
