Can anyone's that had a water birth explain the experience to me please

I almost had one lol. There was a birthing pool in my hospital room. I did not intend on having a water birth, but I wanted the option. Being in the water was very helpful and made pressure during laboring considerably better. When it came time to push though, for some reason I just really wanted to lay down. That's what was most comfortable for me at that time.
