How to get over a long distance relationship ?

I was in a long distance relationship for about 6 months. It was a beautiful thing until he left to go back to working out of the state . He said he would be coming back soon , but actually soon became later and later . Now that I've broke it off after some time , I still feel like I'm stuck in thinking we are still together . Maybe because the break up wasn't in person ?!  I just don't know what to do to get over it all together 😞
