It was a long, intense day yesterday but today has been peaceful and going really well.

I woke up yesterday at 8 am with back pain after a long, sleepless night. It was fairly light and just felt like it was sore from tossing and turning. By about 9- 9:30 I was feeling waves of light back and hip pain that came about every 5-6 minutes that increased intensity by the time hubby got home from work at about 1245. At that time they were 2-3 minutes apart and definitely causing pain. Husband took it upon himself to make me go to the hospital (I was afraid to go and get sent home, though they hurt a lot) and I'm glad he did. Contractions went from 2-3 apart down to 1-2 by the time we got to the hospital. Within the next hour they jumped in pain and intensity and I went from 2 cm dilated to 3 in that time and was then admitted at about 4:40 at which time they gave me an epidural because the contractions were so close and hard I could hardly catch my breathe between them.

My bag of waters were bulging and ready to break so she went ahead and broke them. I progressed nicely to about a 6 and 100% effaced where progression slowed.

Unfortunately I developed a low grade fever of 100.1 and started throwing up. There wasn't any progress at this point for a couple hours and concerns rose for baby's safety. Didn't want her to get a fever and she was getting distressed by the contractions coming so often. Doctor decided at that point I had to have a cesarean section. I was devastated, but I knew it had to be done.

After some prep work and fairly short, thankfully uneventful, surgery, our little girl was born!
