Beginning of mastitis?

Question

My left breast is in so much pain. I tried pumping because it feels so full but it didn't ease the pain. My left breast feels so heavy still with lots of balls in it. I tried massaging them out but they won't go away. It hurts just to touch my breast. I'm also starting to feel very warm and ill like the start of a illness

Could this be the start of mastitis? It's one of my fears 😞

I'm sorry but yes it does. Hot shower and let the spray hit your back. After the shower get baby latched and/or get your dh to step up and prove his love.  If you can get the  drained you may be able to stop it from going to mastitis.

UPDATE: this became unbareable very quickly. I'm shivering uncontrollably and I just feel horrible. I called my doctors emergency number and he sent antibiotics to my pharmacy.

I truly cannot get up from bed. I cannot believe this got worse this fast within an hour. I was feeling fine all day

When I got mastitis I would run 100+ fever and I would shake from chills uncontrollably. Fingers crossed you don't get it really hurts. After I got rid of it in one breast got it in the other breast. Very painful also made my milk supply low and lumpy.

Yes go to the ER and get treated. When j had it my breast was store had a res spot, o ran a fever and had chills and shivered like I was cold.

It could be. See if you have a fever. Another sign is that you have this sharp pain that goes from your breast to like your armpit area and gets worse after you pump or breastfeed. I had it and it's really nothing to be worried about but it does suck. Especially since it makes your milk taste weird and baby will start rejecting it. It is completely safe to breastfeed with it though do you want to going to hurt the baby or give him anything. You can try to suffer through it but just go in and get antibiotics and knock it out.

I'm sorry you're going through this. The best think you can do right now is have the baby nurse frequently from that breast. Put a warm compress on it while nursing maybe. Hot showers and continue massaging it. And definitely call your doctor in the morning. I hope you feel better soon!

It definitely sounds like it. It also sounds like you need to call your doctor tomorrow. Keep trying warm compresses and some hand expression. I found warm showers helped me be able to work some out but if you're feeling sick you probably need to get some medicine. You can also try nursing with baby in multiple positions to try to drain the affected ducts. My daughter was more effective than the pump!
