Crawling on tile

My house is 85% carpet but of course the only place my baby wants to crawl or play is in the kitchen which has tile.  I'm so worried that she is going to fall and hurt her head.  What are other mommies doing with a baby who is crawling/pulling up on tile?  Am I being over paranoid?  I am a FTM so I really am at a loss for what to do.  And we have an open concept floor plan so it's not possible to gate the kitchen and I tried to put her in a playpen while I was cooking and she did not respond well to that.
