Does anyone have an alcoholic SO. If so how do you handle it? My boyfriend drinks 3 shots a night of rum and before I made him cut back he was drinking 2 bottles of rum a day. Now he drinks 2 bottles of rum a week. Any advice ???

I did. My kids' father is a bad alcoholic. He drank bottles and bottles of anything he could get his hands on. He quit jobs and still to this day tries to say he doesn't have a problem. My final straw was after 3 years together, we were 2 weeks away from closing on a house and he got drunk and started abusing me for the billionth time. I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't want my kids to grow up think how he treated me was ok, I didn't want to own a house with him, I threw in the towel finally and I'm so glad I did. I miss how he used to be but he is not that man most of the time. Its very rare for alcoholics to actually stay in aa. He only went when I forced him to and came up with rebuttals to all his lame excuses.

My husband is. I have offered to get him help for years but he was never ready. Now he's ready so we decided to go to AA. He's not comfortable going without me just yet so we only go to the open meetings but he's 16 days sober today and we started going back to church before the Saturday night meetings. Our rainbow baby is due on the 23 and she has been a huge motivator for him to get his shit together.

I love my wine and drink a glass almost nightly. I don't come with any judgment regarding drinking obviously, but sounds like your boyfriend at least used to be drinking excessively. If he's cutting back, good for him! But honestly keep an eye on that, I have alcoholic family members who hide their drinking from their wife who have asked them to cut down!
