I'm ready to have sex, but I'm scared...

Hi there, this is my first time posting, so sorry if it's a bit awkward but; I'm 18 and I'm still a virgin. I know it's not a bad thing to still be a virgin at this age but this guy and I have been friends for a long time and we started talking recently and I feel ready to give it to him. He's experienced compared to me but I'm still scared. I'm scared about my period cause it has always been irregular, if it'll hurt since it's my first time and how much I can really trust a condom. My mother is very religious and she's very against having sex before marriage so I can't really talk to her about this...I've noticed this community is very helpful and sweet when it comes to things like this so maybe if you guys could give me tips or just some reassurance that it won't be so bad, I'd be so grateful.
