Baby Shower and Registry for Second Baby?

Trying to decide if we need to register for our second baby. There are things we'd like that we don't yet have from the first baby but I've been told conflicting opinions.

I'm always bothered by this question. Especially when people say they 'need' stuff. You're the parent, you're supposed to provide for your child, no one else.

Its not tacky. Id have one, and if someone thinks its tacky they can stay their ass home then lol Its not like it means they are required to get it but it is nice for people who are willing to know what you need. I always ask mom to be what they need before I buy for a baby shower.

From my understanding unless a huge gap or a different gender you only get the one because it's all reusable besides the diapers and wipes. But if it's a new gender I think you only get to add stuff specific to the gender.  Some people have drinks and diapers for all pregnancies. This is where they bring a pack of diapers.

I've always just assumed you do it for everytime you get pregnant? My step sister has 6 kids and she's done it with every one of them, like everyone I know has done it with each kid

It personally depends on if you and your family/friends are "traditional" and follow etiquette. It sounds like your children are close in age which would make it "tacky" or unacceptable to have another shower period.

IMO I hate when people say "I need this" it's like o go buy it why put it on the registry for others to buy.

Either way remember that everyone may not agree with you having a second shower and may not come as a result.

Make a registry. It doesn't hurt anything and if someone asks you if you're registered anywhere they can get items off of it for you. I think having a baby shower is ok, but if you had another baby recently you can have a "sprinkle" and just celebrate baby coming with no expectation of lots of gifts. Just diapers or something.

I think it's similar to weddings. The second one just isn't like the first, and you can't just have as many as you want. For example, a cousin got married and had a big "to do," and then he was divorced and married again 2 years later. Many people in the family, including me, didn't go since he already had his bash...quite recently. I didn't want to shell out more expense for a gift, as is expected at weddings. I also didn't want to go there "pretending" it was his first. I would feel the same about a second baby shower.

Maybe I'm weird...my answer isn't on the poll so I didn't vote. But here's my situation and what I'm doing:
I have a 7 month old son who was born November 18th last year. I'm about 21 weeks pregnant with another boy, EDD is November 12th this year. If this second one had been a girl I would have had a shower but with a second boy, and them being less than a year apart, I'm skipping it. BUT, I did do a registry at Babies R Us and Amazon, and I will do one at Target and Buy Buy Baby. The Babies R Us, Amazon, and Target registries are for us. We're not telling anyone we're registered there, but we made the registries because we still get the benefits (completion discounts, cash back, gift bags). I put stuff on them that we're buying for our new baby anyway, and I get the rewards when I buy them. After our son is born and vaccinated, we're going to have a "New Year, New Baby!" Sip-and-see brunch. We'll provide sparkly drinks and finger foods and a chance for people to drop in and meet our new son. We'll put the Buy Buy Baby registry on the invitation with a side note of "gifts are not necessary but always appreciated."

I'm planning on having a baby shower and registry for my second due to I didn't have one when I had my first 🤷🏻‍♀️ even if I did, it's up to you. If people don't like it they don't have to attend or get anything. Every baby deserves to be celebrated

Make one and let people know. And your aren't forcing them, if they want to buy something they will. We bought all the big stuff and let our family choose the little things. So we made sure not to buy clothes or toys until after the shower. People are more willing to buy that stuff. And we didn't want people to feel obligated to buy the big stuff. My family is huge and we always gift to each other. And celebrate everything. I have one cousin who, had a baby shower, then a welcome baby party as well and we went and took presents twice. It's not a big deal. Its a celebration. If we can afford a gift we take it. I mean Burlington, t j Maxx , Wal-Mart all have clothes and toys for a good price.

I saw do what makes you happy. And you know your family. Whether it is a good idea.
