Slurpees for your one year old ok or not?

So my MIL and FIL have decided to start giving our 13m old slurpees. My initial recreation was complete madness because I don't think she's old enough for them,  even if they are sugar free. Plus I was mad that they have her something new without asking first.
Am I overreacting? Is this ok?

I would never be ok with that. That is pure junk, zero nutrition and worse (coloring, sweeteners, etc.) you are building your child's diet that will last throughout their life, that is not something they should have. You should tell them, and they need to respect your parenting choices.

Full slurpees or a sip of someone else's? Are they sugar free because there is some other sugar substitute like aspartame? Because I'd be even more pissed off about that. Sounds like you need to have a chat with them about your expectations either way so that everyone is on the same page.

My mother in law loves to get lunch and slushees from the local ice cream shop when she's watching my little one.... she'll leave the remainder of it in our fridge and it's like he barely had any. They are just spoiling them like the grandparents they are. Just tell them how you feel if it upsets you, most grandparents will listen. If they don't, then I'd be a little upset but most of the time they aren't trying hurt anyone.

We get icees all the time! My 14 month old loves them! We get them at the zoo all the time and even make them at home ocassionally when it's super hot out.

Not a full drink but I'm ok with my one year old trying sips or bites of things. I've let him try a sip of my slurped. He crawled over, took a sip (he loves straws) and crawled away. I don't think it's a big deal. Their own slurpeee would be too much.

I've given my daughter a sip of my milkshake and she loves having a lick of a rocket pop. But giving a slushy as like a drink for them? No way.
