Traveling questions

I have some questions about things. I want to travel and live my life. So, my questions are: 1. Do you need a ID or anything apart from money to get on those overnight type of buses? Like a mega bus? 2. What are some great places that don't cost a lot of money maybe 50-100 dollars I can visit somewhere in the USA? Also, what's a good non expensive hotel I could possibly stay at?
