does a person really ever meet "the one"

I'm a hopeless romantic & im hopelessly in love with someone that probably already moved on. I can't move on. I've never felt such an attraction towards someone. He's unique. But as I was reading a post today it said "leave everything in the past but take the lessons you've learned with you. Even if you think you met "the one," you haven't. Everything that begins has an end.."
