Birth Control?

Question

My daughter is six weeks old. We don't want another child for a couple years. What birth control should I get? One that has little side effects. What worked for you?

After having my oldest, I had the Mirena IUD inserted. I'd heard from a lot of women who had great success with it. I'm very hormone-sensitive tho, and am intolerable to most birth-control pills, but decided to give Mirena a try, since my doc insisted that even tho it was hormonal, it was different than BC pills and I might have better results with it. Unfortunately I didn't tho, and the side effects were so bad for me that I had it removed about a year later (I kept trying to stick with it, hoping the side effects would ease over time, but they didn't, and only got worse). After having my youngest, I knew I wanted to get back on a reliable BC, but didn't know what to use. I talked to my doc (a different one this time!), and she suggested Paraguard IUD, which is 100% hormone-free. I loved it, and had no adverse side effects. I had it for 5 years before having it removed to start ttc again. The ONLY thing I did not like about Paraguard tho was that for some reason, it made my periods go from 5 days long to about 9 days long, which was a total PITA! I think if I ever go back on BC, I will probably give NUVA Ring a try, seeing as my best friend is very hormone-sensitive as well, and she's used NUVA Ring for years with no problems at all, and she told me that her periods got a lot lighter and shorter too. I liked the Paragaurd IUD a lot, just wasn't a fan of the lengthy periods I'd get. Every body reacts differently tho, and effects some people might get, others might not experience at all. Unfortunately, when it comes to BC, it's kinda trial and error, and you may feel like a human guinea pig until you find one that's just right for you. Good luck! i have the implant in my arm. i've heard mixed reviews.... but honestly i love it. 
there are times where i get joint pains. i haven't had a period since 3 months pp but i wonder if breastfeeding has anything to do with that and besides that i've had no side effects... it didn't effect my weight either

I did mirena and pulled it after about a year to try to get pregnant again and couldn't! We tried for over a year and then had to go to fertility specialists and go through a million tests and procedures to get pregnant. Who knows why secondary infertility occurs, but I've always been suspicious that the mirena did something to me.

I used nuva ring for years and loved it. I bragged on it constantly and wish I could still use it. Currently breastfeeding so I'm using Mirena. I have mixed thoughts. I like the convenience of it but I've also had some complications.

I LOVE the Nuva Ring! I can't take birth control pills because the hormones make me a little nutty, but the ring doesn't have any side effects for me.

I got the IUD in my arm alot of people I've read have had side effects with it. I did not for 2 years I only had 2 periods my weight stayed the same though I wasn't really able to lose weight. But I think that was more of me than the BC. I loved it

I just recently got a Liletta IUD after having my baby. A little by of spotting at the beginning, but nothing terrible since. Good luck!!

The pill has worked for me for years, after my last baby 10 months ago I got the Iud. 
I got it taken out after a month as the side effects were awful, I was crying all the time, a hormonal mess, I had anxiety and panic attacks and constant bleeding. I got it out after only a month, I felt like I was going crazy. I was back to normal 9 days later. I won't do that again.

Before I decided to get pregnant I had an IUD ... I plan on getting one again as soon as I deliver and am able to.  I loved the IUD, besides a little spotting in the beginning, I had zero side effects and I bled for one day a month, sometimes not at all. It was great because I didn't have to do anything with it.
