Ever heard of BDS?
If you're unfamiliar with the term, BDS otherwise known as Black dog syndrome refers to the fact that black dogs are less likely to get adopted & more likely to be euthanized (due to lower adoption rates) than dogs with lighter and/or white fur.

In fact, black dogs are seen as more aggressive (which can largely be due to the medias portrayal of black dogs. In movies they're more likely to be depicted as aggressive man killers, aka Dracula's Dog, Devil Dog: the hound from hell, etc), less family orientated and less "adorable" as dogs with lighter fur are.

Personally I think this is so ridiculous, regardless of its fur a dog is a dog and good companions come in different breeds and different shades. I also think it's sad that black dogs and cats may end up losing their life over the color of their fur which they cannot control.
