Should people who use drugs (as in cocaine, ice, heroin) be allowed to keep their kids?

Under any circumstances do you believe drug users (not pot) should be allowed to have kids in their custody? Should they have supervised only? What if the kids really wanna be with their Mom but shes on drugs?

Its not about me... just trying to get opinions about a girl i know whos on the shit

Personally, I wish people who did those kinds of drugs couldn't even have kids..but that's just me..

I'm so thankful that my mom (who was/still is a drug addict) knew that I would have a better life if she gave up custody! I was adopted by my aunt as a baby and grew up in a living drug-free home. I still saw my birth mom every once in awhile. Usually when she was clean for short periods of time. So glad she didn't raise me!

They're not in the right mental state if they are a drug user to take a care of a child. Period. Don't care if they claim they're sober or not in the moment. Not to mention the fact that there would be drugs in the home for a child to potentially find and get into. Even if that person thinks they hid it away well enough. That is NOT okay. If someone can't quit doing drugs for their own child then they clearly have a problem they need to address. I would never allow my kids around that kind of environment

Absolutely not! as a daughter of a deceased father who was an addict- position of choice, alcohol addicts always put their addiction first before everything and everyone. My father was a good man with an illness and a father when sober but in no way could have taken care of me and my brother. We are lucky we had such a wonderful mother and life remained fairly normal with two parents (some of the time). I wouldn't change my father and will always love him

No I believe that if you do those types of drugs you have no right to keep that baby. Now if it's that you did it in the past but are now clean. I think you should get to keep baby. I really wish that if you where doing those types of drugs that you could not have a baby. No baby should have to go through withdrawals because mom get high on something. I seen it and it is so heart breaking.
