what are the chances of getting pregnant?

I have an 8 month old and I'm breastfeeding. I have not had a period since I gave birth. I know there is always a chance that I could get pregnant. But is it more likely not going to happen until my period returns?

I had a baby 9 1/2 weeks ago I'm not breastfeeding asked doc said I'm supposed to get it by now took a test and I'm about 4 weeks :/ idk how I'm going to do it

The first time you ovulate before your first period is when you could get pregnant. So technically you could get pregnant before ever even seeing a period. I got my period back at 7.5 weeks while ebf, and wasnt fertile for the first few cycles, but the longer you go without a period, the better chance you have that you will be fertile when it comes back. Am now 7.5 months pp and 6 weeks pregnant while still breastfeeding.
