Ovarian cyst and kidney stones

So I went to the doctor last week and found out that I have two kidney stones in my left kidney and an ovarian cyst on my left kidney. I am in very bad pain from both. My cyst was 4.4 cm and I go in Friday to see how it is and if it resolves its self. How do you know when the cyst is gone? How do you know if it's growing? I feel as though it is pushing on my bladder because when I have to pee it's a lot more often and it hurts on the left side really bad where my ovary is. Help!!! Also how did I get the cyst when I'm on birth control and that's how they get them to go away on women.
