Should there be a limit to the number of countries you can have citizenship in?

Yes some countries allow dual citizenship but should people be able to have 3,4 or even 5 citizenships in different countries

I'm Canadian and growing up I moved around a lot. I met many other 'Canadians' that have passports but basically lived in Canada to get citizenship and then they just leave. They never contribute to the economy at all, but when they retire they return for the many benefits Canadian citizen receive. Many of these Canadians don't even like Canada or our culture. To me it's just insulting to my country and home as well as a drain on our society and economy. 
So I do think people should be able to have multiple citizenships BUT if they're not part of the country in any way (besides reaping benefits at the expense of others) then I don't think they should be allowed to be citizens of that country. People should be a part of their country and have ties to it besides a passport and that's really hard to do when you're a citizen of multiple countries.

I'd like to get my US & UK citizenships. I have family in both places.

I'm not sure how many citizenships you are allowed to hold, will have to look into this myself as I'm multiple and will be starting process to get another one soon. For me, I was born with 2, and only due to working internationally did i bother to apply as sometimes having a citizenship offers security that is not afforded to those on visas. My child who will be born American would be able to apply (due to his parents citizenships)  for Canadian, Lebanese, Irish and British though not mexican as I believe Mexico does not allow dual citizenship from what I remember. I mean, I don't know why he would need to though, it would be a bit ridiculous. He will have his American, and I'm applying for his Irish as soon as he is born and only because it is a smoother process when travelling home plus also smoother processs incase he wants to go to school or own a business in Europe at some stage of his life. But yea I would also want to know why people are against it?

This is such a good question that I've wondered about before, too. I'm honestly not sure what I think though. You're allowed 2--correct? My husband is Welsh (British) and will be seeking his US citizenship soon. Years ago we talked about living in Canada, and that would mean making a decision on whether our children would have British, US or Canadian citizenship. Obviously this isn't the case anymore since we've settled in the US, but I've always wondered.

It's not exactly easy to become a citizen in most countries anyways, so I can't imagine this being a "popular" issue that most of us will encounter anyways.
