Uhh what this mean

I asked the dude I talk to do he want to have a child with me and he said idk and that he thought about it before. What that mean . We've been dating for 3 years on and off but I don't even know if we currently dating right now . You never know with him 🙄 and I asked him do he want a child with me basically right now. I want another one , this one is by another person
