birth control shot?

im too irresponsible to take the bc pill at the same time everyday so im really considering the  birth control (depo provera) shot. if anyone has used or is using the shot please leave advice on pros/cons, etc. thanks!

The shot made me gain 30 pounds in around 5 months. Same with my sister, mom, and aunt. I use the Nuvaring. It's amazing and it stays in for 3 weeks, then out for 1. Or you can skip periods with it too. I've had no side effects from nuvaring at all.

Do NOT do it.. I started it when I was 14 (now 19) and my life was great through high school, it didn't make me gain any weight it actually helped me maintain it, and I had no periods, it was great! Then fast forward to August 2016.. I was due for my next shot and I decided to skip it as I knew I wanted to give my body a break and eventually start ttc, well my periods returned by that October, by November my af was regular 28 day cycles and I was receiving positive opks. Now here it is being July 2017.. and I have been ttc with my husband for MONTHS, trying everything, fertilitea, premama (actually helped boost my OV), and preseed. I'm constantly tracking with opks or bbt.. and still NOTHING. It's probably one of the worst things it could ever do to your body. Honestly that month of October was AWFUL, I literally bleed during OV. I would never, ever, do it again.

I've gained about 50lbs on it. But other than that it was great the first two years. I would recommend longer than that though. It has caused a complete loss of sex drive and being able to stay wet, plus it made my depression SO much worse. Other people seem to like it just fine, but that has been my experience on it. I just recently stopped after seven years of it. It's still a fairly new drug I believe, so when I asked doctors how long was recommended to be on it, I got different answers from each of them.
