Do you feel rehab/treatment programs works?

A person can only change & receive help if they want it so badly. Mindset is everything

Depends on the person. Like another commenter said, mindset is everything. You have to *want* to get past whatever you're in the program for and not just be there for whatever reasons but the right ones.

I think they can work wonders. The problem is, people usually are not in for long enough to reap the benefits. My mom's best friend is an alcoholic. She went to a rehab facility for two weeks. That's just not long enough. What exactly is going to get done in two weeks? Not much. And of course she went right back to drinking and hiding bottles when she came home.

It depends on the individual. They have to want to change and get better first or else it won't work. Getting clean and staying sober is a commitment just like quitting smoking. You have to be committed.

Only if the person wants to change. I wanted to go to a rehab for anorexics, but I couldn't get the guts to talk to my mom. Yes she didn't know about my anorexia. So I ended up just emailing the people there for help. Even though I wasn't committed I learned some skills to help me. Because I WANTED the help I got through it. 
However my uncle, who was on intervention Canada, did NOT want to get better at first. He went to rehab, got out and went back. Finally a couple years later he went back and got the help he needed.

Depends what for? Drugs and alcohol is tricky and something mes i think does more harm but I was in rehab for an eaten by disorder and it saved my life

Although, I DO NOT believe in twelve stepping. At all!!! I think for me the problem with twelve stepping is all the religious/spiritual crap. Admittedly they do offer a lot of support for those open to those things

It works when you work it! You have to want and almost live for sobriety (of any kind) for a good while, but if you do you will get there and there are sooo many options now.

I think they can help people, but only if the person WANTS to change.
They are a valuable tool if applied correctly.
If not, it's just a stressor that leads to people relapsing when they're out and craving their fix.

I think they can. It saves a lot of lives. Obviously there are some people it doesn't work for, but that's just how it is for any disease or disorder, whether it's physical or mental. It depends on so many things, like the reason they're there, their personal motivation, which facility they go to. That's like saying "do hospitals work?"
