I have been in the process of adoption my nieces from foster care for the last two years. They stopped calling me "aunt" last year and started calling me "mommy" and let me tell you I had to sneak to the bathroom to cry. My oldest has some mental health issues from remembering everything she went through with her birth parents. But today I learned a petition to adopt has been submitted to court. My girls are so close to officially being mine and I can't wait!
