Fucking ridiculous. Just putting more pressure on students to know exactly what they want to do in life. 
Also, how is this even a remotely good idea?

That is ridiculous. Many people do not know what they want to do. Why should they have to have all that figured out. They were just in school for years. People deserve breaks. It shouldn't be up to the school. Especially if they put in all of the hard work. It's completely ignoring the needs and wants of the student. The school has no clue what is going on that students life. They shouldn't have the say in their life.

No. Honestly, this is just one more way to make poor kids feel they must enlist in the military or force more people into education debt. Not everyone can find a real "adult" job before they even graduate high school. Not everyone can afford college right away. And military shouldn't be the only other option. Not to mention, companies often  do not like to hire that young. Instead, I think support is a much better idea. Having trade classes where a student can even be licensed in something. Career counseling or even job assistance. But making finding work, education, or listing in the military mandatory to graduate? Absolutely not. People aren't robots. If they are considered adults, they should be able to make their own post-education decisions.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. What about people who want to take a year off and travel or just haven't figured it out yet. This is going to push a lot of people into rush decisions that they aren't going to be happy with.

I don't think that's acceptable. Some people don't have a plan yet, and that's okay. It's not the school's job to ensure they are doing something AFTER high school. Their job is to prepare them for what they may do. After high school, I want to take a gap year. Would I not graduate?? Because that's ridiculous.

Terrible idea. Forcing somebody to do that could mess up their entire life. Nobody is going to have a career type job out of high school, so that's not a good idea. Also, some kids stay home and help the family and can't afford college. All around horrible idea.

I'm going to be the outlier here. I think this is a good idea. This was the only option I was given so I took it. When you are told the only choice you have is where you will go, it makes a difference, and you can change your mind (for the most part) in the non military routes. 
   
The city wants kids to be informed of their options and act on them. Every Chicago public high school graduate essentially already meets the new standard because graduation guarantees admittance to the City Colleges of Chicago community college system. The city colleges are not bad community schools and will help get people beyond minimum wage positions. The idea is to educate people so they stay to help build the city and their communities. 
  
The previous majors were just shipping out the poor to the suburbs and not providing opportunities. As many issues as I have with Emanuel, he is trying to help people in the communities that need people to stay and open businesses and grow.

What the actual f? This is legal? Students earned their diploma, they did the work to get it. It's their right to get it. I don't understand how they can *require more hoops to jump through *after they have already finished school. It's none of their business what the students do when they finish school. Literally NONE of their business. This seriously pisses me off.

I see what they were trying to do.. which has good intentions. But I don't think it will work out how they want
