Anyone else experiencing bleeding gums??

38 weeks today....and all of a sudden my gums are extremely swollen, they hurt throughout the day...and bleed when I brush them. I try to softly massage them and it HURTS! This is seriously out of the blue....anyone else experiencing this? 🙁

I'm a dental hygienist and bleeding gums in pregnant women is very common and to have pregnancy gingivitis. Has happened to me during this pregnancy. I've read that around this time and when close to labor you get a surge in hormones which is probably triggering the swollen gums due to that increase. Brushing 2x/day and flossing and waterpik if you have one will help! As long as you don't develop a large swollen gum like in one area which is a pregnancy tumor/granuloma.

Mine have bled throughout both pregnancies--my hygienist said my bleeding is "textbook pregnancy gums". Not a symptom most people mention! Flossing stinks but she encouraged me to continue!

Mine have the whole time. My hygienist said it was hormones and to brush whenever I can during the day with a soft wet toothbrush and no toothpaste. She said massaging the gums was key, but honestly I never remember 😬

Yes!! Throughout my whole pregnancy. Doctor said it was due to my low iron.

Yes mine started killing me around 20-25 weeks. It's gotten a little better now that I'm at 39. Hang in there. Go to dentist if you can
