Freezing sperm?

Has anyone done it? What was the cost? Is one sample only good for one IUI/IVF procedure? Did your insurance cover the storage fee?

I have frozen sperm. And I think it depends on where you keep it stored. I have two vials, and each one will only be good for one procedure. It costs me $300 a year to store at a clinic in my area. Some sperm banks will hold it if you are getting it from a bank, but it is usually about 500 to 600 a year through a bank. 
Insurance may cover the cost. It is all about which insurance and what they cover. Many insurance companies are not great with fertility related expenses, but call your company and ask what they cover! Good luck!

We used donor sperm, so I can answer a bit... but I know nothing about the costs of storing one's own sperm.

One sample can be split into several vials (that's how cryobanks make so much money). 1 vial would be needed for an IUI or an IVF procedure.

My hubby is military and had a training to go to right in the middle of a possible IVF. Our only choice was to freeze. I opted out of the whole cycle and waited til he got home. I wasn't about to go through the whole shots and everything with the chance that none of his sperm would servive the unfreezing process. That was just me tho
