A dip is absolutely not necessary. You're looking for a clear and sustained rise. It may be difficult to see a pattern because your temps are pretty erratic

It should drop just before ovulation and then spike after

Easier how to find out if your temp is all over get your self opk to confirm ovulation. Good luck xx
