This is for the people who have more experience with Mexico and South American Spanish/Portuguese speaking countries.

Obviously there's a lot of acknowledgement that the European colonists who came to the USA were horrible to the natives. Same with Australia. But I've never heard any discussion about the Spanish/Portuguese colonists who came to Latin America. Is there any debate about their treatment of natives and colonization the way there is about the USA and Australia?
