How often does your newborn wake during the night?

My baby is 3 weeks old on waking every two hours during the night. I'm exhausted 😩.  He sleeps longer during the day. Should I be waking him up during the day so he might sleep longer at might?  Any mummy's in the same boat? I also have a two year old so sleeping during the day isn't an option 😪

Sounds like his days and nights are still confused. We were able to teach my son the difference by 2 or 3 weeks by doing a few things.

During the day make the baby's napping area brighter and more noisy than night time. Wake to feed every 3 hours. Pick a bedtime, ours is 7, and set a bedtime routine. Turn down the lights, turn off the tv, make sure everyone whispers. Feed baby in the same spot for every bedtime like a rocker. When baby wakes to eat keep the room dark and quiet and don't interact too much with him. Just feed and go right back to sleep. Within a week I think you'll see a difference.

That's pretty normal my son woke every 2-3 hours until he was about 8 weeks. After that he slept through the night.

My daughter was like that in the beginning. Her days and nights were mixed because she was born at night. I let her sleep during the day, but I kept all of the lights and tv on, talked at normal volume, and continued with daily activities. Night time was dark and quiet with only the use of a noise machine. Within a week and a half, her sleep improved. She's 7 weeks today and slept for 5.5 hours straight last night and then woke up every 2-3 hours.

My son didn't sleep through the night until 4 weeks , he's now 4 months so just give it some time
