Really Need Advice!

We are on our second IUI cycle with Femara 5MG and 6 days of Follistim injections. I was scheduled to trigger tonight and IUI Monday, but today I surged on my own. The doctor said to take another test tonight just to be sure, I did, and it's now negative, only 7 hours after getting my positive. I took three tests today so I know exactly when I surged. My dr said that even though it's now negative, that we are going to go with the positive test from earlier today and still do the IUI tomorrow morning. In your opinion is this a waste of time/money? This was such a good cycle with 4 follicles and I hate to get my hopes up if there really isn't a good chance of this working.
