Arm exercises

I have double jointed elbows and when my arms are straight the natural resting position in my elbows is for the inside of the joint to face forward instead of in which makes it very difficult to do things like push ups, some planks, and even yoga poses. The joint hyperextends and it's very painful very quickly. I am considering braces or tape to stabilize the joint but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on how to help. I know they're very beneficial for upper body strength but I usually just end up very uncomfortable and sore within the joint.
