I need some advice because I'm freaking.

My son's father and I were never married but we recently separated before Christmas. We agreed not to go to court on anything because we felt we could be civil ourselves and so far we have and when I need help with something he helps me and I help him as well.

But his family is in Michigan and he's taking our son up there for a week. (I'm in TN.)

Now I'm scared he won't come back. Would he get in any trouble? He's on the birth certificate as his father because he is, but since we never went to court to establish living arrangements or anything after the breakup or set up child support I'm worried he could get away with moving there if he chose to do so.

I tried to Google and got overwhelmed.

Please help.
