What's the point of a romantic relationship?

So this can be a controversial conversation. Some people believe it's for a purpose to eventually get married. Or just for companionship. Or other ideas. So what do you think the point of a romantic relationship is?

Well as social animals, I think it makes sense that we'd seek a long term companion. I don't think it necessarily has to be a romantic relationship for everyone. Some people find life long companions in friends or family members. 
I think it's cute 😂

This is personal. Everyone will have a different reason.

I'm so glad I found my husband. He's my best friend and my other half, truly. I didn't know when I met him for coffee that day that we would be inseparable from that moment. It was a natural progression to love and marriage and babies. Although I wanted all of those things, I waited for the right person to do that with. I didn't simply want to be married. It's been 10 years and 3 kids.

We put our marriage first every day. The romance is very alive. We talk about everything. We touch a lot. We have a fulfilling sex love. We truly enjoy being with each other. It's a true partnership. He's my best friend who I also happen to have amazing sex with. We gross our kids our daily.

For me it's just biologically fulfilling to have him to share my life with. It drills down to an instinctual level. Can I live without him? Absolutely I can. But that doesn't mean I want to.

I have been in relationships for different reasons. After I broke up with my sons father I dated around a  lot just for fun and companionship. When I met my SO I started dating him in hopes that he would be my future. We are definitely in a relationship now with plans to stay this way forever.

But for me I have no point to my relationship. My boyfriend and I are best friends now living together. It'll grow organically from there however is healthy for us:)

To get to know someone on a personal level before a sexual relationship develops. I have to like you as a person before I even consider having sex with you 🤷🏼‍♀️

It depends on what you want out of it? If you're looking to get married the probably marriage. But if you just don't want to be alone then companionship I guess?

It can be different for everyone... but for me it's for companionship, love, support... oh and sex 😉 I am married though, but it wasn't my top priority in the relationship or the ultimate goal.
