I have just received this beautiful invitation to my friends baby shower, I feel so awful but I don't think I can go, I can't pretend to celebrate when all I'm thinking about is my struggles, is that selfish? I feel like such a terrible friend 😔

You know hun, i understand how you must be feeling and of course it is not easy at all but if i was you i would go. This is your friend, who im sure really wants you there. Missing out will not make you conceive (dont mean that in a harsh way at all) but you will probably feel bad for not being there for your friend. Your turn will definitely come soon ❤

I've skipped my share of showers, if they're a close friend they'll understand. Don't put yourself in a situation where you may unnecessary get upset. Dealing with fertility is enough sometimes on a daily basis. Just send a nice gift.

I would definitely go. It sucks, I totally feel you. But, you don't know her journey or anyone else's who will be there. For all you know it could've taken her years to conceive or another guest could be going through the same thing. I'm in the same place as you. Everyone but you getting pregnant, but you have to be there for her especially if you would like the same from her. Totally up to you, but you're not alone in what you're going through.

My husband and I ttc for 9 years and 1 month we know all about the pain you are going through. This pain shall pass and your time will come and you would be terribly sad if your friend didn't celebrate your blessing. So put on a pretty dress and celebrate life. Your pain will be in my prayers.

I wouldn't feel bad skipping it. I've done it before. There was a shower at my work and it turned out to be the same day that I found out my first IUI failed.  You better believe I skipped that shower. There are times during this process that I'm ok with showers and can go and then there are times that I can't. Don't let ANYONE make you feel guilty about choosing not to go. You can send a nice gift along with your regrets about not attending. If I ever get to the point of having a shower, I would never want someone to attend if they were going through infertility and felt uncomfortable.

I recently got a similar invite from a friend. I had a loss at 24 weeks last year and now have found out my husband and I are having a hard time conceiving again. I ovulate regularly but he has a low count and antibodies attacking his sperm. We are now considering IVF after 2 unsuccessful iui's. 
I just texted my friend to send my congratulations and explain that I thought it would be too painful for me to be there. Between my loss and our troubles now. In my opinion if she is really a friend she would understand. She did!
