Can a guy feel the IUD?

I'm debating the type of bc I want and my OB recommended the IUD because I don't want a period anymore (I got way too used to not having one for 9 months lol). But I told my fiancé and he said no because he once dated a girl who had the IUD and he said he could feel it when they had sex & it hurt. I feel like this can't be true right ??? I don't know much about it but I figure no one would get it if the guy could feel it ? He's relatively big and when we have sex, he hits something back in there (I really don't know what). Is it possible?
