Does NYX test on animals?!

I really like NYX because (I think) it's cruelty free. But I got one of those soft matte lip cremes, and I noticed that it says it's cruelty free with the PETA logo on it, even though it says it's made in China. I thought all makeup in China was required to be tested on animals?

Makeup made in a factory in does not necessarily test on animals. 
It's only makeup that's sold in China that's required to have been tested on animals.

If the specific, individual product you buy does not have a cruelty-free label on the back (typically an image of a bunny - see below), then it was probably tested on animals. Never trust a company's reputation: check the back of the packaging for every single item, because brands love misleading consumers about their shitty practices.
Source: i bought some makeup yesterday and skipped the NYX brand in favor of elf, which had cruelty-free bunnies on the back of every item.

NYX doesn't test on animals, but the company who owns NYX does. Also, if a company sells in China it does test on animals, except for Hong Kong. The rules that apply for the mainland of China don't apply for Hong Kong, its capital. So even if NYX does sell on china but only in Hong Kong, it's still cruelty free. Hope that helps!
