Getting mine put in (haven't had kids) was mostly just pressure (my doctor had me come in while I was on my period so it would hurt less) there was one really bad moment of pinching but it really wasn't terrible and seriously was just a few seconds. I did have cramps for a few weeks after (just like period cramps) but then it was the best thing I ever did! I just had mine taken out after three years. Definitely take some meds before going in

A mixture...like pretty bad but over quickly and worth it. I've had two inserted and it was much better with ibuprofen beforehand!

I just got mine in yesterday for the first time and I've had a baby. For me getting it put in hurt for like 3 seconds and that was it but it's the cramps after that kill me. I'm also on my period so I'm getting period cramps and it's my first period since being off birth control. (I had to go off of my B.C. For awhile for health reasons) but the cramps are pretty bearable I'm sure it hurts less when you aren't running after a toddler

Depends. Since I've had a kid it prob wouldn't be horrible, but when I tried before baby..... let's just contractions hurt less then that.
