To anyone who's adopted or fostered a child

Ju

My husband has been hospitalized for bipolar disorder in the past. He is currently completely stable and on medical treatment for his disorder. We've never had a report from child protective services, and his psychiatrist has written a report that states this his condition in no way put our child at risk of any harm. We are financially stable (he is a lawyer, and I am a stay at home mum). We have a completely traditionally home and marriage otherwise, yet I can't help but feel like we would be turned away due to his mental health issues in the past.

We live in Ontario, and though the online resources don't state explicitly that mental health concerns will disqualify you to adopt or foster, it is somewhat implied.

If anyone has any stories or further information to share, I would be grateful to hear it.
