My son is almost four months old and he's been a decent sleeper I guess. He wakes up every 2-3 hours to feed (breastfeeding) both day and night and usually at night I have just put him down in the dockatot after every feeding and he's fallen back to sleep again. No problems. But lately, for about a week or so he's woken up not long after I've put him down and started screaming like crazy. So I've picked him up and when he's in my arms again he eventually calms down and falls asleep again and this just keeps going through the night. I put him down, he wakes up a while later and screams, I pick him up, offer the breast, and he falls asleep again after he's calmed down. What is wrong? Could it be a growth spurt of some kind that's causing this? It doesn't sound like he's in pain, more like he's afraid, but isn't four months a bit young to feel "afraid"? Any ideas?
