Birth Story 🌹
My husband came home from work Friday night. I was having cramps and back pain but I brushed it off as Braxton Hicks. I had a hard time sleeping that night. I put a pad on before I went to bed and in the morning my water had broken. (No mess!) I called the midwives and they said to shower on up and head in and they would check me out. We weren't certain if they were going to send me home or not so we packed everything up and headed in. Since we weren't positive if it was the real deal, we were so calm. I was actually doing my makeup in the passenger seat. 😂 When I got there, they did the exam and said the culture they took didn't show up as amniotic fluid but they were sure my water had broken. They said I was still only dilated to 1 cm and it had been 2 weeks so they admitted me and they induced me at 10 AM Saturday morning, July 1st. Contractions started to be 5 minutes apart around 4:30 that evening. I I breathed through them until 6:30 AM Sunday morning when I asked for an epidural. I went in hoping and praying I wouldn't need one because I was afraid of having one with all the stories that I've heard of them not working or permanent back pain, Etc. 2 hours went by and I started feeling increased pressure. The nurses told me I would know for sure when she was ready to come. They checked me and I was only dilated to 5 cm. Around 9:45 my husband woke up and showered. When he came out of the bathroom, the nurses were telling me I was at 10 cm and it was time to push. My husband held my left leg and the nurse grabbed my right. The nurse told me to do a practice push while the doctors were getting ready outside of the room. The practice push was enough for my husband and nurse to see our baby's head, so she told me to wait. All the doctors and nurses came in and I did about five pushes and she was born. They put her on my chest and it was the most amazing moment of my life. After 39 long weeks, we finally got to meet our sweet Felicity May at 10:04 a.m. Saturday July 2nd 2017.
