PCOS & Metformin "something I learned"

Pooh • 31, married to an amazing man💙🔐, Cyster(PCOS) patiently waiting on God's timing for our precious future blessings. But while we wait I have 3 fur babies 🐶🐕🐾

I just wanted to share my experience really quickly. I've had PCOS for many years but never cared too much because it meant no painful periods! Yay! Until getting married and wanting to have kids.... well now it's a problem. 😤😩

So after not having a period on my own my Dr started me on metformin 500mg a day. Within a few days I began to spot and before I finished the first bottle I got my period. I was shocked. I also was able to lose 10 lbs in a month ( which before seemed next to impossible to do). So I decided that I would up the dosage like my Dr suggested from 500mg a day to 1000mg a day and then finally reaching 1500mg a day (the recommended effective dosage). I figured that if it worked so well on the lower dosage that it would work even better on the higher dosage.... I WAS WRONG! 😒🤢

The next month I got all the side effects you could get. I started gaining weight back quickly, I was sick every morning🤢, exhausted 😴, had hot flashes😰bloated🤡, I was easily aggravated 😡crazy mood swings😶 depressed😔etc. Also that month No Period!!😱😰

So I decided to pray🙏🏾about it because I was so confused and while in prayer I was lead to think about returning to the original dosage that was helping me instead of trying to reach the " maximum effective dosage".

And so I did. I went back to 500mg per day and wouldn't you know it, the weight started coming off again and within 3 days I got my period! 🙌🏾😁

Moral of the story listen to your body and just because it is suggested to increase your dosage, if that higher dosage is not working for you don't be afraid to lower your dosage.😘🤗
