No IVF for same sex couples...?

So, I've been looking into doing IVF outside of the United States. After researching clinics in like 10 different countries I noticed that many of the clinics will NOT do IVF with donor eggs or donor sperm for same sex couples. I've never been outside the States (yet), but I was really surprised by this. I guess I thought other countries were more progressive than the US when it comes to same sex couples. Is this not the case? 🤔 I guess I need to clarify, we are not a same sex couple but we plan to do IVF outside the US (because it's cheaper). That's why I was researching IVF in other countries and noticed that many clinics in other countries refuse same sex couples.

Not everywhere is accepting of same ex couples... after all America only got their equality laws 2 years ago? Canadas had theirs since 2005. 🤷🏼‍♀️

As for U.S. progressiveness, I'd call us middling on a global scale.

There's lots of countries out there that aren't accepting of LGBTQ people at all. The Middle East and many countries in Africa and Asia are very against same sex relationships. I've lived in two countries we're it was punishable by death to be gay. So yeah the US is one of the more progressive and accepting countries. Canada, Australia, Western Europe are a few that are also accepting as well.

I'm not surprised. Even the U.S. isn't terribly progressive in a lot of ways. In many states you can still be fired for being LGBQT+. From a 2016 article in FastCompany: "Only 19 states and Washington, D.C., have passed laws preventing LGBT Americans from being discriminated against by employers. Three others protect employees on the basis of sexual orientation but not gender identity." 
It only became legal for same sex couples to adopt in all 50 states in March of 2016 after a federal judge struck down Mississippi's 16-year ban. 
I can't find info as to whether or not it still stands, but I know as of recently there have been no federal protections for LGBQT+ individuals for fair housing. 
There seems to regularly be state-level legislation coming up that would allow business to refuse service based on gender identity or sexual orientation.

UK offers it. I have had IUI and each time we went to the clinic there was at least one same sex couple 👍🏼

While the US does seem extremely backwards most countries are worse. Just look at Saudi Arabia.

I am a lesbian and the topic of children was very prominent with my ex for the last 6 months of our relationship. We decided on at home insemination for 3 round and if that doesn't work wed use IVF. We were lucky to live in a progressive country where we were told that 30% of couples that she performed fertility treatments on were gay. I think it's awful to deny someone the chance of having biological children over something as silly as a different kind of love
